Water was also used to relieve a variety of ailments, such as kidney pain and minor female complaints, and to aid digestion. 1827 The town grants permission to exploit the spring. 1837 Auguste Saturnin BADOIT, aged 36, obtains a lease on the Fontfort spring. He industrialized the bottled water. His strength: advertising its benefits. He multiplied the number of outlets: pharmacies, grocery stores, hotels, etc., and extended his sales network to the Lyon, Paris and Midi regions. To avoid competition, he bought other springs that would bear his name. It was the first mineral water to be sold in bottles. 1857 Badoit "advertises" in the Lyon Courier 1858 Auguste Saturnin Badoit dies, succeeded by his wife and daughter.
