Marc PETIT (1932) & Atelier PINTON, Aubusson - Lot 21
Marc PETIT (1932) & Atelier PINTON, Aubusson Tapestry in polychrome wool representing a perched owl. Signature of the artist and the Pinton workshop in the weft at the bottom right. Numbered 2/6 on the back. Missing bolduc. 183 x 138 cm. Marc Petit is a multidisciplinary artist practicing as well in the painting of tapestry cardboard as in the drawing or the creation of projects of works in leather, mosaic, glass or porcelain. Participating in the renaissance of tapestry that took place in the twentieth century in the workshops of Aubusson, Marc Petit follows the stylistic innovations of cartonniers such as Jean Lurçat or Jean Picart Le Doux by reinterpreting them with his own artistic sensitivity. His brightly colored tapestries are true windows into a world of dreams, into which the artist's imagination transports us with mischief and curiosity. Marc Petit is undoubtedly an artist to be rediscovered and this resolutely modern tapestry will know how to reintroduce with brilliance the art of tapestry in the contemporary interiors.
