Hans Hansen (1884-1940) - Lot 12
Hans Hansen (1884-1940) Cup in silver 1st title (925/1000) hammered. Signed on the bottom and dated 1935. H. 14 cm. Diameter : 16,5 cm. Diam. of the foot : 9,5 cm. Hans Hansen is one of the most talented and renowned Danish silversmiths of the first half of the 20th century. His creations, both in the field of silverware and jewelry, make him one of the main proponents of the Art Deco style in the Scandinavian countries. Hans Hansen opened his own workshop in 1906 in Kolding, Denmark, after working with Carl M. Cohr. His silver works, which combine purity of form with great care for ergonomics, were soon exported to Germany and the United States. His name lives on after his death in 1941, through the work of his son, Karl Gustav Hansen. Our rare silver cup 1st title testifies to the originality and the quest for simplicity of its author. Part of the creative effervescence of Scandinavian design in the 1930s, it is an exceptional object designed by one of the greatest silversmiths of his time.
