NOTES : - Major artist of the revival of the glass paste technique Gabriel Argy-Rousseau is considered as the main glass artist to have rediscovered the ancient technique of pâte de verre, in line with the research carried out on pâte de cristal by artists such as François Décorchemont, Georges Despret or Henri Cros. - A work characteristic of the beginnings of Art Deco His first creations between 1910 and 1920 take up the naturalist themes developed by Emile Gallé, while innovating with new technical processes for colouring the surface of the glass and a geometrisation of shapes that already heralded Art Deco. - A sculptor of light Through his technical and aesthetic virtuosity, Gabriel Argy-Rousseau contributed to the development of the glass arts at the beginning of the 20th century by creating true glass sculptures that let the light play with the subtle colours of the material.
