Amalric WALTER (1870-1959) and Henri BERGÉ (1870-1937) - Lot 3
Amalric WALTER (1870-1959) and Henri BERGÉ (1870-1937) Oval paperweight in glass paste decorated with a moth. Signed A.WALTER and BERGE SC H: 4,5cm L: 10cm Pr: 8,5cm NOTES : Awarded at the Universal Exhibition of 1900, Amalric Walter worked for the DAUM crystal factory from 1905 to 1915 before creating his own workshop. An emblematic artist of the complex art of glass paste, he crystallizes his know-how here in a delicate moth serving as a paperweight, the model of which was created by Henri Bergé. Walter concentrates his production on small objects such as paper trays and paperweights which he transcends into real sculptures in pâte de verre in which he shows his interest for fauna and flora. Decorative and utilitarian, this work succeeds by its sensitivity and grace in making us forget the technical complexity that its realization requires.
