Daniel Ridgway KNIGHT (1839-1924) Lady with a parasol Watercolor signed lower right. H: 36.5 cm ; W: 27 cm. NOTES: An American painter who emigrated to Paris at the end of the 19th century, Daniel Ridgway Knight studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and then entered the studio of Ernest Meissonnier, a famous painter of battles during the Second Empire. He then specialized in idealistic paintings, mainly depicting young peasant women working in the fields.
